6 Weeks!
OK, the other milestone (well not really a milestone, but to me it is) deals with her playmat. She has the playmat/playgym and it has this feature where it can play music or make sounds either continuosly or when something is tugged or moved. Well she's not at the point where she is intentionally grabbing things and tugging them yet, but she kicks pretty hard and every time she did she activated the music! I'm so proud! haha! I know, it's so small but it's huge to me! Me and Junior we're so excited you'd think she just won us a million dollars! awww... my lil pooper. growing before my very eyes.
She's definitely stronger in her neck that she can hold her head up for longer periods of time now, she's forming spit bubbles and she talks more. Well not talk-TALK but baby talk. And I can just tell that any minute now that laugh will come out! She has that look (like in the picture of the last blog with her natural faux hawk) where you can tell she wants to laugh but just a squeak comes out. Still a cute squeak though.
So Junior and I were talking about it and everyone that knows better than they know me thinks she looks more like him and everyone that knows me better than they know him think she looks more like me. I think she has a perfect blend (as if she's coffee) and that those that know him better are just able to see his features better in her and vice versa. People that know both of us well... we get mixed reviews from. I, personally, can see us both in her. Certain angles and/or faces I see him and then others me.
Jake kissed Toni today! That's a HUGE milestone because he has slowly, but surely warmed up to her. Everytime we've tried to get Jake to give her a little kiss, he runs away and he normally has no problem giving kisses. Today, he gave her one so we had to give him a treat. I just hope he doesn't think he should kiss her all the time now! Her reaction, she was shocked. She didn't cry, but she was shocked. I don't think she knew what to think of that and eventually just forgot about it. Well earlier today I did have her pet him. Well really I took her hand and pet him with it... AND I had to command him to stay because he kept running away at first. But when he stayed and allowed her to pet him, I gave him a treat. Actually I made it look like she gave him the treat. So maybe that's why he kissed her later on. Figured she can't be too harmful.

5 Weeks postpartum
Toni is developing well! She is much more social lately. She'll actually look at you and open her mouth like she is trying to communicate with you. Every now and then a small coo sound will come out. it's so cool! And she cracks these smiles... SOOO cute! But I'm still unsure if she is purposely smiling at us or if it's just one of those smiles that just happen. Supposedly between 6 wks and 6 mos she will start to sleep longer thoughout the night. Big range, but I'm hoping for 6 weeks! haha! Really, I just want her to be more regualar with a schedule. Right now she's not always consistent. It's not so bad right now, but only because I take 1 or 2 naps a day with her so that getting up or going to bed in the wee hours of the morning aren't so bad. So that helps a lot! But, I have noticed that when we are out during "nap time" I get so tired! haha! Here I am, 29 years old and I get tired if I don't have my naps.

6 weeks postpartum?
I have to say that cutting Toni's nails was... well IS quite a workout. At first I left them alone because they are so soft and thin and tips seemed to still be attached to the skin. I definitely didn't want to use a nail cutter and risk clipping her fingertip and the nail was too thin for a nail file. So I put mitts on... except that the mitts are too big for her tiny hands. They kept coming off. Finally around the second week I had to cut her nails because she was scratching up her face. I waited until she was asleep to do it. Let me tell you, I SUCK at doing so. I was able to cut her nails, but not so great. I tried filing them first, but her nails are still too thin to soften the edges. That or I just really suck at doing so. I'm getting better, though. That or her nails are just getting easier to cut. But I do have to trim them fairly often because they grow like crazy! But atleast the scratches on her face aren't as bad. My poor thing. It's cute that she doesn't have complete control over her hands and arms yet so when they move around like they have a mind of their own it's cute. But then again, the other day she look like she was trying to gauge her eyes out and ended up poking herself in the eye. She cried, my poor thing.
Yesterday was Junior's first father's day! We didn't get him anything... YET! Well I couldn't really go anywhere. But we will definitely get him a late gift. We did celebrate with my brothers and their families with a BBQ. It was cool and my sis in law took a great picture with my brothers, Junior and all the kids. Awww... I have to post that pic up once she sends it to me.

One month!
Your baby may gurgle, coo, grunt, and hum to express his feelings. A few babies also begin squealing and laughing. Be sure to coo and gurgle back, and talk to your baby face to face. He'll enjoy holding your gaze now.If you have things to do, your baby will still enjoy hearing your voice from across the room. And don't feel silly about talking baby talk — babies are particularly attuned to this high-pitched, drawn-out way of communicating that can actually teach your baby about the structure and function of language.
I always read that all babies develop at different times and speeds and is in no way a determining factor of how they will develop in life (i.e. a slow child or not) so that these "milestones" that are listed by age doesn't mean your child is fast or slow. But I compare to some degeree anyway. haha! basically if my child does something "ahead" of schedule then I say she's smart. If she's right on schedule, then good. And if she's behind, well she's really not b/c all babies develop differfently anwyay. haha!
Like the update says, though, she does make a lot of sounds. She definitely grunts with every move. It's pretty funny. IT's really cute because if she's not grunting, she makes these little kitten like noises. haha! it's so cute! She hasn't squealed or laughed yet, but I think it's coming up. Sometimes it just looks like she really wants to but there is no sound to it yet. The cool part is she can mimic some of the things we do. Like if we stick our tounge out, she'll copy. /if we open our mouth, she'll do the same. I read somewhere else that around this age, they will start to smile at you... and REALLY smile at you. Not just because they passed gas... which she does A LOT. But that's good because I'd rather that than her be a colicky baby.

My Curious George
These days I may not have the chance to really blog much, but I can take pics of her all day with my phone and send it straight to my blog! then i can just edit the content later and in the meantime i can share the picsv with you!
ok, so she gets curious when i hold my phone up to her which is cool b/c i read that at this point, newborns really study things around them. so this is capturing that moment.

suffering
so, ok. i've decided my blogs may get really short but i will have to publish each one when i walk away from the computer.
my lil pooper is changing before my very eyes. she's getting stronger and stronger. she can seriously hold her head up by herself and for quite a while too. she graduated to size one diaperas from the newborns... yay! i think her growth spurt may be on the downhill for now b/c she doesn't feel the need to feed every hour on the hour and act like she's starving. supposedly the growth spurt will hit again at 6 weeks WHICH isn't too far off! she made 4 weeks today! now i'm not so sure how it works. during pregnancy each week was counted by the days. for instance. every wed was another week. after birth if that is still the case, then she made 4 weeks yesterday. OR since she was born on the 12th, maybe she makes weeks this thursday? let's just say 4 weeks on mon and month on thurs. hahaha!
i can't believe it, though! one month already! it's going by so fast! she's starting to get a little more vocal now too. not in talking, of course, but in her cries. there's more beef to it if you know what i mean. and she can get real upset in a split second! it's crazy! but although she has her5 moments, for the most part it's not too hard to calm her down. it's just. when she has something to say, she will let you know asap.
i'm still adjusting. i suck at cutting her nails! getting better at breastfeeding although i have yet to perfect it. i'm no longer on any meds! every now and again i feel a bit sore down there, but nothing intolerable. although i feel like a slob every day! i never change out ot of my pjs unless we have an appt and never get out. so every sat we have been going to a relatives house so people can see Toni and i can get out.
ok. it's nap time. toni has finally fallen asleep in my left arm while i am typing one handed with my right. i have to take this nap too or i will regret it when she awakes during the early hours of the morning!

What you talkin' 'bout Willis?
I love this pic. I was taking so many pics of her with my camera phone and this particular one makes me think she is wondering what the heck I'm doing hence the title of this blog.
By the way, I didn't really finish that last post. I started it last night and didn't finish it. Tonight as I'm ready to continue it, I can't remember what the heck I was going to add to it. So I just published it. Guess you never really regain your memory capacity even after giving birth.

First Tub Bath
Toni had her first tub bath today! I really wanted to do it the day her umbilical fell off, but I wanted to let her belly button heal completely first. She loved it! I think she almost fell asleep. I read that babies do tend to love the tub baths because it reminds them of their home in the womb.
This week is also the first week Junior went back to work and so I've had to fly solo while he was gone. It hasn't been to bad, actually. Knock on wood right? Maybe the hardest part is that she just wants to be held. So it makes it hard to do anything else. I really need to invest in a carrier or sling. Aside from that, I've found that as long as she is fed whenever she wants to eat and is held, she's pretty easy. I've learned to tkae at least two naps during the day with her and that gets me through the nights.
